CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Tony-winning musical Some Like It Hot will have four shows at Theatre Memphis on April 11 at 7:30 p.m., April 12 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and April 13 at 1 p.m.—it tells the 1930s story of two men who disguise themselves as women to escape gangsters after witnessing a murder. WNBJ 39
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The K-9 officer—who was the focus of a citywide naming contest—retired from JPD after unforeseen health issues were found; the department said it awaited a replacement and thanked the community for over 900 name submissions. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Jackson businesses and residences that keep their yards neat and beautiful now have a chance to be recognized through the 2025 Mayor’s Civic Pride Awards as nominations run through April. After nominations close on April 30, judges from the regional master gardeners program will visit neighborhoods to choose winners—nominees will receive a sign acknowledging their civic pride. WNBJ 39
