New Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church held its New Year's Communion service at 109 Freewill Lane on Sunday morning to mark a new faith-filled year.
The church will host its nursing home ministry service January 11 (3–4 p.m.) at Hardin Home Nursing Home in Savannah.

Voting is underway for the Jackson area high school girls basketball athlete of the week for Dec.29-Jan.3; the poll closes Thursday, Jan.
8 at 4 p.m. Nominees include Aydison Dilworth (South Side), Avery Olson (Peabody), Ava Reed (Milan) and Tori Robinson (Trinity Christian Academy).
Voting is open until 4 p.m. Thursday for the Jackson-area high school boys basketball Athlete of the Week covering Dec.
29 to Jan. 3, with nominees Houston Brasfield, Jack Cupples, Zack Niven, Kelsey Rose, Kenton Smith, and Easton Sullivan.
