  • Local families can celebrate Mr. Potato Head’s birthday at the main library on 433 East Lafayette Street on Saturday, Jan. 24. The event offers a potato-themed Story Time and interactive play session (10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) and is free to attend.  WNBJ 39
  • Mark Benton (of Germantown) is asking for help finding his lost 7-year-old Shih-Tzu, Pattycake, who got loose from a backyard in the LANA neighborhood during Christmas. He offers a $2,000 reward and says she is microchipped for easy identification at any vet.  WBBJ-TV

  • Jackson Councilman Frank McMeen confirmed on Friday that bids for the Great Wolf Lodge project are progressing with plans for an expansive 450,000 sqft+ facility designed to add family fun and create hundreds of jobs. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tennessee will stop allowing SNAP benefits to buy processed foods including soda, candy and energy drinks effective July 31. Nearly 700,000 SNAP enrollees will only be able to purchase natural or single-ingredient items — a change aimed at improving health outcomes.  The Jackson Sun

  • Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County in Huntingdon received the 2025 Human Experience Guardian Award from Press Ganey on Jan. 12. The honor recognizes its ranking among the top 5% of acute care providers for physician experience and confirms its commitment to quality patient care.  WBBJ-TV

  • Local real estate expert Victoria Saveh (a local agent) says rising rental costs and shifting home prices have made it harder for workers to live near their jobs. She advises buyers to get pre-approved early and adjust expectations as many are willing to commute longer distances.  WBBJ-TV
