- ➤ Downtown business owner Henry Bussey will use his soon-to-open venue — The Collective Underground — to offer free shelter, food, and water from Friday through Monday between 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. at 111 East Lafayette Street for unhoused residents, as community members also prepare donations. - ➤ Jackson Christian Theatre will present its spring production 'Big Fish' at The Ned in Jackson from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31 (performances on Thursday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.). WNBJ 39

- ➤ Lane College hosted its spring convocation ceremony Wednesday at Chamber McClure Academic Center to welcome students, faculty and staff. Special guest speaker Albert E. Dotson, Jr. focused on scholarship and community service. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ University School of Jackson earned Platinum distinction on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll — the College Board recognized its strong program offering more than 21 AP courses where 85% of seniors took exams and 68% earned college credit — highlighting its commitment to college readiness. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Groovy Roots in Jackson will host a seed starting class on Jan. 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (participants will learn essential tips for starting seedlings to kick off their garden season) and reservations are available online. WNBJ 39
