- ➤ Old Country Store in Jackson offers a $9.99 buffet today from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with nearly 50% off the regular price; it will also offer a 20% discount buffet for crew members (Jackson employees, TDOT and Jackson Energy teams) from Friday to Sunday as thanks for post-storm efforts. - ➤ Jackson will host the Reptile & Exotic Pet Expo at the Jackson Fairgrounds on February 21-22. The event offers reptiles, exotic pets, and supplies with admission at $5 per person and free entry for children under 11. WNBJ 39
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two buildings at the Madison County Emergency Management Agency collapsed due to winter weather, and crews lifted the roof to clear the path for a morgue truck as Mayor A.J. Massey posted photos of the damage on Facebook. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Local businesses in Jackson are adapting to icy roads by reducing operating hours — Grubs Grocery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sassafras plans a big sale. Owners say the slow business allows them to restock until conditions improve. WNBJ 39
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ THP has assisted over 1,660 motorists and responded to 3,514 calls since Jan. 24 as Winter Storm Fern created hazardous road conditions, multiple crashes, and property damage; troopers will continue clearing obstacles and checking on residents while urging drivers to avoid travel if possible (emergency response continues). - ➤ Emergency crews from Madison County cleared downed trees in Hardin County on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to reopen access for residents and emergency vehicles. Additional teams stayed at home while an EMA trailer arrived in Decatur County to support a warming center. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Yesterday, the state launched a winter weather hotline to help residents facing power outages and winter storms; travelers can check road conditions online or by calling 511 (or 877.244.0065 outside Tennessee) for updates. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Madison County EMA director Jason Moore urges local businesses and residents to report any winter storm property damage with photos to [email protected] so that reports help secure federal assistance—detailed submissions are needed for commercial and farm buildings. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ The Jackson Fire Department is advising residents to keep hands free and take short, careful steps (like a penguin) when walking on icy surfaces from melted snow and to approach dark, shaded areas with extra care. WNBJ 39
- ➤ On Tuesday, Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order (Executive Order 111) that lets state transportation crews clear rural roads so utility crews can restore power faster after a winter storm left thousands without power. Officials said hazardous road conditions and refreezing temperatures slowed the recovery. WBBJ-TV
