  • Animal Care Center will help protect local pets from extreme cold this week (the initiative addresses recurring risks from low temperatures) in Jackson.  The Jackson Post

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Since the winter storm began, Mann’s Wrecker Service in Jackson has answered about 200 daily calls from drivers stuck on icy roads (60% of which have been resolved) and raised rates by $100 to cover extra safety expenses; the company urges residents to stay home and check on neighbors.  WBBJ-TV
  • The recent winter storm has disrupted shop operations in Jackson, leaving many businesses closed & delivery trucks struggling due to poor roads. Grubb’s Grocery reported staff availability improved today even though weather challenges persist.  WBBJ TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency is asking residents whose homes were impacted by Winter Storm Fern to complete an online survey so officials can assess damage & plan recovery efforts. The survey is available on computers and mobile devices.  WBBJ-TV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Residents in Jackson spent Saturday sledding on the hills near Rockabilly’s Stadium despite the cold weather. Families and friends enjoyed the ice (which has not yet melted) and connected for winter fun.  WBBJ-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • During the Christmas break, South Side’s girls’ basketball team played in a holiday tournament in South Alabama. Senior Lady Hawk Aydison Dilworth drew local attention with her standout play on the court.  The Jackson Post
  • Tennessee coach Kim Caldwell recalled the storied Lady Vols-UConn rivalry that once energized local sports conversations while her team aims to regain elite form after a narrow upset last season. Caldwell has recruited top prospect Oliviyah Edwards as part of a plan to elevate the program.  The Jackson Sun
  • Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar has withdrawn from a federal suit against the NCAA and hired attorney Cam Norris — he may file a state court challenge in Knox County for 2026 eligibility. He is recovering from Jan. 2 surgery, which could affect his readiness for the upcoming season.  The Jackson Sun
