- ➤ The Greater Jackson Chamber held its awards celebration on Feb. 4 and posthumously honored Ted Austin with the Jonas Kisber Community Impact Award. - ➤ Ford partners with Brownsville Haywood County Animal Shelter to offer free pet adoptions and cover spay & neuter costs this February. Ford’s community relations manager says the effort aims to help pets find loving homes in time for Valentine’s Day. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Tennessee businesses will save on workers' comp premiums as the Department of Commerce and Insurance announced a 1.1% cut in the assigned risk rate and a 2% overall loss cost reduction for the voluntary market starting Mar. 1, marking 13 consecutive years of declines. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Jackson-Madison County Schools has recognized four district-level Teachers of the Year for 2025 — 2026, including Stephanie Lewis, Chanda Brafa, Karen McGee, and Savannah Nevels — each honored for their commitment to student success. - ➤ This morning, the SBA announced low-interest disaster loans for Tennessee private nonprofits affected by the severe winter storm that hit from Jan. 22 to 27. Eligible organizations (food kitchens, shelters, community centers) can apply online with deadlines on April 7 and Nov. 6. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Today, Tennessee expanded its Get Alarmed program to offer free carbon monoxide alarms along with smoke detectors for residents in West Tennessee following recent CO issues during Winter Storm Fern. Residents can request a free device by contacting their local fire department. WNBJ 39

- ➤ TSSAA wins leader Gary Rankin resigned as football coach at Boyd-Buchanan on Feb. 11 — he said he is not retiring and may coach again if the right opportunity arises, staying through the school year. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ Sportsmen are reminded that a free permit will be required for the Light Goose Conservation season, which runs Feb. 15 to March 31, when Blue, Snow and Ross's geese can be hunted using unplugged shotguns and electronic calls. Hunters must have a valid license to participate. WBBJ-TV
