  • Scarlet Rope Crawfest returns downtown this Saturday, April 18 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 250 West Main Street, with crawfish, shrimp, a dedicated kids section, and live community engagement that supports Scarlet Rope Project (a nonprofit aiding survivors).  WNBJ 39
  • Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church held a mobile food pantry distribution Thursday that served residents eligible for government assistance — the event was in partnership with the Mid-South food bank and supported by state troopers.  WBBJ-TV

  • Red Lobster's new CEO said the chain is reviewing its 15 Tennessee restaurants after its 2024 bankruptcy and may close more lower performing locations — a measure aimed at streamlining operations and curbing costs.  The Jackson Sun

  • The Blue Suede Rockabilly Weekend will take place from Friday, Apr. 24 through Sunday, Apr. 26 at Hub City Brewing, 250 West Main Street in downtown Jackson, featuring a welcome event, vintage car show, vendor market and guided tour of the Carl Perkins Collection.   • The 15th Annual Lights, Camera, Fashion modeling show takes place at the Carl Perkins Civic Center today; high school juniors + seniors will model prom dresses from My Best Friend Jenna to raise scholarship funds and support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital after six months of training.  WBBJ-TV

  • Jackson State Community College celebrated the grand reopening of its F.E. Wright administration building after it was fully remodeled – updating both interior and exterior to provide a modern, welcoming space for students.  WBBJ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • West Tennessee Healthcare celebrated the one-year anniversary of its hybrid atrial fibrillation program at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The program brought together cardiologists and surgeons to lower stroke risk and improve care over the past year (boosting overall quality of life) during an event for patients, family, and staff.  WBBJ-TV
  • While several states near Tennessee are combating rising measles outbreaks, local health officials say Jackson remains measles-free as of today — though spring break travel may pose a risk. Residents are urged to get vaccinated and stay informed.  The Jackson Sun

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson Cheer Company's youth team, Jackson Elite's Stealth, won gold at Cheersport Nationals last weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, marking their second national win. The team will compete at UCA All Star National Championship in Orlando in March & is now preparing for the next challenge.  WBBJ TV
