CULTURE NEWS

  • Julianna Fallon, an 18-year-old Kansas City native, was crowned Miss Teen Volunteer America 2027 at a ceremony Saturday night in Hub City. She will launch her Hope for Every Heart service initiative – honoring her late aunt and thanking her family for support – as she begins her new term.  WBBJ-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lane College hosted its 12th annual Scholarship Gala at the J.F. Lane Gymnasium on campus beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday & the event supported student scholarships while featuring a guest performance from Grammy Award winner Kierra Sheard-Kelly.  WBBJ-TV
  • Union University in Jackson and Lipscomb University in Nashville were ranked among the top 15 best Christian colleges by Niche today, with Union University placed at No. 10.  The Jackson Sun

  • Jackson Central-Merry student-athlete Jayland Eckford received his first Division I offer on March 8 (his standout play for the Cougars earned him this honor). Local fans celebrate his achievement as he prepares for the next level.  The Jackson Post
