  • RIFA’s Bus Stop Cafe—managed by a local program—will deliver free meals for children ages 0 to 18 in vulnerable areas of Jackson from March 16 through March 20.  WNBJ 39
  • Jackson launched Operation Happy Tail — a pet adoption program with support from the Jackson Police and Fire departments and the Animal Care Center — that will feature a different adoptable pet each week throughout the month.  WNBJ 39
  • Councilman Johnny Dodd hosted the Men on the Move Tour (a positive outreach event) at Alexander Elementary School early Friday morning to give young children a welcoming male role model. The event aimed to strengthen community ties through supportive everyday interactions.  WBBJ TV

  • Local small business owners and startup founders have a chance to join Capital Conversations, a free networking and educational event on Mar. 31 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hub City Brewing to learn about InvestTN and other regional funding resources.  WNBJ 39

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dolly Parton returned to Dollywood Friday, March 13 to kick off the park’s 41st season. She told fans she had overcome health challenges (including recovering from procedures) and remembered her late husband, Carl Dean.  WYN 106.9

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee gas prices have spiked as regular gas now costs $3.24 per gallon & is 71 cents higher than last month, with supply strains from tensions near the Strait of Hormuz driving up costs.  The Jackson Sun

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alexander Elementary School received a renovated lobby on Friday, Mar. 13 thanks to Leadership Jackson’s 2025 class. The project added royal blue paint, updated furniture & local donations to create a welcoming space for students and families.  The Jackson Sun
  • Madison County Fire Department will host an Air Evac training session on Monday at 6 p.m. at its facility on Technology Center Drive for medical professionals earning continuing education credits.  WNBJ 39

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local restaurant inspection scores from March 9 to March 13 show that most establishments in West Tennessee achieved high marks. The report details scores across Jackson and neighboring counties, with ratings ranging from 79 to 100 at venues like Americana Kitchen and Grill and Old Country Store Ice Cream Parlor.  WBBJ-TV
  • LIFELINE Blood Services partners with Bob’s House of Honda to offer donors a chance to win the MZ Magnum Bad Boy Mower when donating at centers in Jackson, Dyersburg, or Paris starting March 16. Donors may enter until April 11 and a winner will be picked April 13 — helping save lives.  WBBJ-TV
