COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fleet Feet in Jackson will hold its second annual St. Patrick’s Day 5k this Sunday afternoon at the 398 Oil Well Road store—runners and walkers dress in green and follow a loop that starts on Foxworth Drive and goes along Brooksie Drive. The store also hosts a free community run every Sunday morning and will hold the Zeta Run for a Cure on March 22.  WBBJ TV
  • Love and Truth Church in Jackson held its Reach service on Sunday where it distributed $10,000 each to JPD, Lincoln Elementary School and RIFA—totaling $30,000—to support local community projects. The church will host its Serve program on Saturday, March 29, where volunteers will provide hands-on help in the community.  WBBJ TV

FINANCE NEWS

  • A Tennessee Lottery player in Ramer won $150,000 on March 15 by matching four numbers plus the Powerball and using the Power Play multiplier option. The winning ticket was sold at Four Way Express Mart—6745 Hwy. 45 S.  WBBJ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers in the 2025 session have passed bills to protect victims of illegal photography, ban cellphones during class and launch a statewide school voucher program—steps taken during a special session that also approved funds for hurricane aid. They are now considering proposals on school immigration checks, English-only driver tests and a 10% tax on vape products as they plan to close the session in April amid tough budget choices.  The Jackson Sun
