COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jackson will host the Hub City Flea Market on April 4 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and April 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. + Vendors will offer antiques, collectibles, and more along with live music and food trucks.  WNBJ 39
  • Every March since 2018, high school baseball teams in Jackson and West Tennessee hold WES' Game to honor children with Down syndrome—this event raises awareness and strengthens a local tradition.  The Jackson Post
  • The Boys + Girls Club of Jackson celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for a new pavilion on Lexington Avenue built with donated materials and help from Blue Steel Manufacturing. It replaces a pavilion lost to a tornado and will give kids a cooler place to play and parents a spot to watch sports leagues + gather.  WNBJ 39
  • Gospel Light Baptist Church will host Hometown Hero Day this Sunday, March 30th, to honor first responders in Jackson; children will see fire trucks, police cruisers, and—if weather permits—a helicopter, with lunch served at 11 a.m. after the morning service.  WNBJ 39

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Greater Jackson Chamber earned a five-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, placing it among the top 1% of chambers. It improved from a three-star rating 15 years ago and continues to work as a team to keep meeting high standards—marking a key achievement.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Jackson is inviting residents to guide a Transportation Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries after an online survey opened March 26, and will hold a public meeting on April 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Madison County Library.  WYN 106.9

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two leading TSSAA players, USJ's Haylen Ayers, a two-time defending Miss Basketball winner, and Webb School-Bell Buckle's Makynli Bacon, who helped win a state championship, have been invited to the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team minicamp. The camp runs from April 3-6 in Tampa, Florida (the players will also attend the NCAA Women's Final Four semifinals on April 4 at Amalie Arena).  The Jackson Sun
