  • Local organizations honored veterans on National Vietnam Veterans Day Sunday at VFW Post 6496 — awarding lapel pins and certificates as Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey and other guests showed their support.  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • WRAP presented its 13th annual Denim and Pearls event in Jackson that featured a Michael Jackson tribute — including an elegant dinner, silent auction, and more — with proceeds benefiting WRAP efforts.  WBBJ-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Voting is open until Thursday at 4 p.m. for Jackson area high school boys Athlete of the Week for performances during March 23 to 28. Nominees represent South Gibson, Scotts Hill, Dresden, Greenfield, Hardin County, South Side + Madison.  The Jackson Sun
  • A missed goaltending call in the Elite Eight game allowed Michigan to build a 24-2 run against Tennessee at the United Center on March 29. Tennessee's coaching staff argued the play — referees declined to review the call.  The Jackson Sun
  • Voting is now open for a local girls high school athlete of the week contest covering performances from March 23-28. Votes must be cast by Thursday, Apr. 2 at 4 p.m. with nominees including Madison Holder, Katie Beth Caldwell, Alli McFarland and Emerson Fair.  The Jackson Sun
