- ➤ The Boys and Girls Club of Jackson replaced its outdoor pavilion on Lexington Avenue after a tornado destroyed it in 2000—donated supplies and volunteer labor helped complete the project, which the Leadership Jackson Class of 2024 celebrated with a ribbon-cutting last week. The restored pavilion will provide a safe space for over 800 youth and will support a seven-week summer program starting June 2. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ Community members held a Colon Cancer Awareness Walk in Jackson on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at North Park (210 Demonbreun Drive) where they prayed, released balloons, and raised awareness for regular screenings; organizers said they will make this an annual event. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Gospel Light Baptist Church honored local first responders on Sunday—community members attended a special service and luncheon where they learned about the work of firemen, police, military servicemen and other emergency workers while visiting fire trucks, police vehicles and even a helicopter.
