  • St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Jackson held its Stations of the Cross service ahead of Easter, featuring 14 stations that outline Christ's path to crucifixion + it will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m.  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Donnell Century Farms kicked off its annual spring festival today — with Easter egg hunts, animal petting, and tulip walks that let families celebrate the arrival of spring.  WNBJ 39

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lawmakers are pushing a bill that would bar school districts from using public funds to sue over accountability laws such as third-grade retention. The measure, which affects districts including Memphis-Shelby County Schools, will go to a floor vote next week.  The Jackson Sun
  • Marcia Holt, a 5th grade math teacher at West Carroll Elementary, is named Educator of the Week by the Tennessee Education Lottery. She said her kindergarten teacher (Ms. Bunch) inspired her love for teaching and her new classroom role makes her eligible for the Educator of the Month award.  WBBJ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Inspection scores for West Tennessee restaurants between March 30 and April 3 indicate ratings from 82 to 100 — several Jackson eateries, including Tru By Hilton Breakfast and Little Caesars, earned perfect scores while others received lower marks.  WBBJ-TV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Local restaurants and stores are offering Easter meal bundles and festive treats this weekend, with Walmart’s online meal bundles available (through today) and Cracker Barrel, Costco and others providing ready-to-heat dinners for pickup from April 2 to April 5.  The Jackson Sun

  • High school softball, baseball and soccer games had their final scores announced 13 hours ago in a daily sportscast, with sports anchor Zach Jones highlighting key local athletic performances.  WBBJ-TV

  • The USJ Bruins scored 18 runs in a game against Millington minutes ago + Zach Jones led the team to a strong win. The team will build on this success in upcoming matchups.  WYN 106.9
