  • The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition has launched its new Honor Circle program to support local veterans by channeling monthly donations to the V.I.C. Grant Fund that aids veterans in 22 counties - contribution levels range from $10 to $50 and come with special perks.  WNBJ 39

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday at 1:45 a.m., the Madison County Fire Department rescued a kayaker whose overturned vessel left him 10 miles from his planned stop — team members credited regular training and urged local paddlers to have stop plans.  WNBJ 39

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Jackson drivers face rising gas prices as oil trades above $100 per barrel due to a disruption at the Strait of Hormuz — some stations now charge up to $3.99 per gallon while the state average sits at $3.85.  WNBJ 39

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lane College hosted a campus-wide career fair in Jackson — the event included over 70 employers and connected students from first year to seniors with industry professionals, building pathways for future success.  WBBJ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tennessee Supreme Court permanently disbarred Marcus Allen Lipham after a disciplinary hearing found he committed ethical misconduct effective April 1 and ordered him to pay $26,500 in restitution and $2,216 in fees.  WBBJ-TV
  • City of Jackson Neighborhood Services launched its 2026 Lawn Care Assistance Program to offer free lawn mowing help for eligible seniors and residents with disabilities from May to August — a service that keeps yards tidy. Applications are accepted until April 17 for qualifying homeowners.  WBBJ-TV
  • Today, Secretary of State Tre Hargett reminds residents to use the Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The free service protects victims by offering an alternative mailing address for legal use (including voter registration and driver’s licenses) at no cost.  WBBJ-TV
