- ➤ Local taxpayers with simple returns can file using the new IRS Direct File option — available in 25 states including Tennessee as the April 15 tax deadline nears. Tax experts say that if the option expands fully it will save Tennessee taxpayers over $400 million a year — a boost from lower filing costs and improved credits. WYN 106.9

- ➤ After heavy rains over the weekend, emergency crews rescued more than 40 people and stranded pets in flooded areas of Dyersburg while residents in Obion County evacuated as floodwaters closed roads and damaged homes—officials warn the Obion River will crest by Thursday and note that water levels at the Forked Deer River in Jackson remained contained. - ➤ TDOT has closed SR 180 over Lost Creek north of Nutbush for repairs after multi-day flooding caused erosion and compromised the bridge support — repair crews are evaluating plans for work that is expected to last several weeks. Local residents still have access via a detour on SR 88 and SR 19 — officials urge drivers to use alternate routes. WBBJ-TV
