  • Leaders Credit Union earned two Diamond Awards for its Rock n’ Roll Out the New Core campaign that turned a system upgrade into a fun experience. The campaign started at its 2025 Champion Summit and was recognized at the 2026 Marketing, PR & Development Council conference.  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jackson is set to host a Rockabilly weekend celebrating the 70th anniversary of the hit 'Blue Suede Shoes' from April 24 to April 26. The event will include a VIP kickoff party, classic car show + vintage vendors, and themed stops along the Blue Suede Trail.  WNBJ 39

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, Jackson State Community College hosted an artificial intelligence summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. where local leaders discussed AI’s impact on work, education and local services + announced a new partnership with Toyota Boshoku.  WBBJ TV
  • Governor Lee is asking the legislature to double the Education Freedom Scholarships from 20,000 to 40,000 because rising demand is calling for more support, and the proposal is under review in the legislature.  WNBJ 39
  • Thirty-nine aspiring young leaders from Jackson-Madison County earned certificates today after completing the 10-month Leadership University program by the Greater Jackson Chamber, which included 64 classroom hours and nearly 1,000 community service hours + hands-on projects.  WBBJ-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Prevent Cancer Foundation survey shows 73% of adults, including many in Jackson, are behind on cancer screenings due to cost worries and trust issues (35% said cost is their top concern), even though most insurance plans cover the tests at no cost.  WBBJ-TV
  • The Helping Hands Health Fair will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Apr. 25 at Shirlene Mercer Park and will promote mental + emotional and financial wellness while featuring animal balloons for kids, food trucks, and live contemporary gospel music.  WBBJ-TV
  • The USDA retracted its warning on dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets after additional testing by the Madison County Health Department showed a false positive result; officials confirmed the nuggets are safe to eat.  WNBJ 39
