- ➤ West Tennessee Legal Services will host an expungement clinic and resource fair at the Salvation Army in Jackson on April 25—attorney Andy Cole said registration begins on April 14 and the event is part of the governor's Second chance month. WNBJ 39
- ➤ The in-person Honeybee 5K run will take place on May 17 at Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park to celebrate World Bee Day while virtual runners can register anytime until May 20—proceeds will benefit the Honey Project to support honeybee hives. WNBJ 39
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Overnight, swift water teams from Tipton and Madison Counties helped evacuate over 40 homes in Bogota — assisting residents and pets to reach safety as flood waters rose. Rescue efforts continue in Dyer County as the community faces rising water levels. WNBJ 39
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Madison County Conservation Board met Tuesday evening in Jackson to plan local park projects including the new Eva Mae Greer and Van Lawson Talley Family Park in Beech Bluff, which is set to open by fall, the State Games and Easter Extravaganza events, and the hiring of camp counselors for summer camp scheduled for June and July. - ➤ The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed the State Route 180 bridge over Lost Creek in Nutbush — citing flood damage. Crews were evaluating repairs — and a detour was set on State Routes 88 and 19 while several roads across West Tennessee stayed closed. WNBJ 39
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Johnsonville is recalling 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst after two consumers reported biting hard plastic and the USDA classified the recall as Class I because it could cause serious harm. The recalled product is in 19‑oz sealed firm tray packages marked with code B9FOD—sold in Tennessee and other states—and customers are advised to check their supplies. WYN 106.9
