  • The 2025 First Ladies’ Luncheon will honor female leaders in West Tennessee — the event will feature Tina Prescott, president and CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The IRS announced tax relief for Tennessee individuals and businesses impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding on April 2 — affected taxpayers now have until November 3 to file federal tax returns and pay amounts originally due during the disaster period. Additional relief extends to a range of filings and payments, with penalties waived for some missed deposits if conditions are met.  WNBJ 39

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson area fans may vote once per hour for the next girls athlete of the week for April 7-12+the poll closes at 5 p.m. on April 17. Last week's winner was Bailey Robinson+the nominees include players from local softball teams with standout performances in recent games.  The Jackson Sun
  • Fans in Jackson are voting in the poll for the area boys athlete of the week featuring athletes from baseball, soccer and track—last week, Madison baseball's Ian Wyatt won with 14,893 votes. The poll accepts one vote per hour and will close Thursday at 5 p.m.  The Jackson Sun
  • Longtime basketball coach Tony Shutes retired as Jackson Christian's girls basketball coach after three seasons—ending a 34-year career that also included roles at University School of Jackson and Jackson Central-Merry. He finished with 649 wins and stepped down after leading the team to a TSSAA state tournament appearance.  The Jackson Sun
