COMMUNITY NEWS

  • After severe weather canceled April's event, the Hub City Flea Market will return to Jackson on May 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on South Highland Avenue with live music and food trucks on site.  WNBJ 39
  • Tony Neihoff joined a local show to share details on St. Mary’s 2025 Booster Club Crawfish & Shrimp Boil—he explained key event plans for the community.  WYN 106.9

CULTURE NEWS

  • Artist Trinity Rivard is creating a new mural at The Amp—honoring local music icons that will debut at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 during the Vintage Maker’s Festival.  WNBJ 39
  • Jackson Theatre Guild will present the musical 'The Music Man, Jr.' this May at The Ned. The fast-paced show follows a fast-talking con man who shakes up a small town—discovering the power of music and community—and will run from May 1 to May 4 with a special ice cream social on May 3.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Monday’s meeting, the Madison County Board of Commissioners announced that Judge Hugh Harvey will retire on May 31—when a new judge will be appointed. The board praised his fair service as it also handled routine fund transfers and amendments.  WYN 106.9

HEALTH NEWS

  • Gerber Products Company recalled its Sooth N Chew teething sticks because they posed a potential choking hazard for young children. The FDA issued the recall on (January 31) and released a second notice on (April 18) after reports of the product still being sold.  WNBJ 39

SPORTS NEWS

  • Joey Aguilar, a former standout from Appalachian State, is transferring to Tennessee to compete with Jake Merklinger for the starting quarterback job this season, and Coach Heupel will test their skills during summer practice sessions (Merklinger is a redshirt freshman).  The Jackson Sun
  • Joey Aguilar, a record-breaking quarterback from Appalachian State who transferred to UCLA, is expected to join Tennessee football to replace Nico Iamaleava after NIL disputes led to his departure — he will compete with redshirt freshman Jake Merklinger for the starting role next season.  The Jackson Sun
