CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Arts Council will host Arts Backstage 2026 on Thursday, May 21 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at The NED (314 East Main Street), showcasing live music, dance, theater, film, literary and visual arts. WNBJ 39
- ➤ Jackson Area Community Bands will host a free spring concert featuring live performances by the Symphonic Winds and Swing Orchestra at Union University's Savage Chapel on Monday, May 11 at 7 p.m.—offering family-friendly music from across West Tennessee. WNBJ 39
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Union University held its final service at the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel this morning, ending over 50 years of community worship. The chapel will be demolished after the spring semester to build a new (32,000 sqft, $30 million) worship center set for dedication in January 2028. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Jackson is accepting nominations for the Mayor’s Civic Pride Awards to honor homeowners celebrated for exceptional landscaping, curb appeal and property upkeep (nominations are open to any resident within the city limits).
