- ➤ Lori Nunnery stepped down as CEO of Visit Jackson after 16 years of promoting tourism in Jackson and Madison County—Beth Bolton is now serving as interim CEO while the search for a permanent replacement continues. WNBJ 39

- ➤ Spencer's announced a grand opening celebration for its new location at 1081 Vann Drive Suite 105 in Jackson on Saturday, May 10 from 1-5 p.m. — the event will feature sweet treats, giveaways, games, and the first 100 guests will receive $10 gift cards. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Casey's General Store opened at the corner of Ridgecrest Road and F.E. Wright Drive in Jackson on April 29, offering made-from-scratch pizza, snacks, groceries, and fuel, and Stan Clampitt of Buchanan Realty Group brokered the deal after years of planning. The new store is part of the growing Park Place Development that now brings fresh convenience services to eastern Jackson. WYN 106.9
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities in Lauderdale County are searching for Bryan Lebel (a survivalist with extensive knowledge of Henning) who fired at law enforcement in 2024 and is considered armed and dangerous; officials warn the public not to approach him and to call the sheriff's office (731-635-1311). WNBJ 39
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Seven new eligible schools have been added to the Tennessee Education Freedom Scholarship Program list as of Thursday, bringing the total to 223. In West Tennessee, Jackson Christian School, Trinity Christian Academy + University School of Jackson joined the list, and the program allows families to use state funds for private school tuition and fees. - ➤ Jackson Christian School in Jackson named Dr. Lindsey Bradford as the new Director of Elementary, effective July 1; she brings over 12 years of administrative experience, including her role as assistant principal at Gadsden Elementary — credentials that support her new leadership role. - ➤ The West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex in Jackson will host the TMSAA Class A Section 4 baseball and softball tournaments from May 5 to May 8. Local and regional middle school teams will compete for a spot in the state championships in Clarksville—a major event for the area. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Cruising Jackson is hosting the King of the Strip 2025 drag racing event today at 5 p.m. at the Jackson Dragway — the race will include a twist to keep the audience on their toes. WNBJ 39
