- ➤ Jackson Pride held its 2025 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony Tuesday night at the Community Foundation of West Tennessee—awarding $7,500 in scholarships and graduation chords to four local students recognized for leadership, community involvement and academic promise. WYN 106.9

- ➤ A gallery of mugshots shows several individuals booked and/or released from Madison County Jail between 12 a.m. on May 5 and 8 a.m. on May 6—each listing only signifies an arrest process and does not imply guilt. WYN 106.9
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ This May, Northside Church’s Hope Hall at 2571 North Highland Avenue will host Abandoned, a musical by local youth that tells the story of a man returning from Vietnam and finding new hope through friendship and faith. The free shows will be on May 30 at 7 pm, May 31 at 7 pm, and June 1 at 3 pm. WBBJ-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local college presidents joined a spicy wing challenge hosted by United Way of West Tennessee and the Greater Jackson Chamber in Jackson—eating 10 wings with increasing heat levels. They shared their reactions and learned leadership lessons as the Emerging Leaders Program prepares for a follow-up event in August—providing more opportunities for community leaders to engage. FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Leaders Credit Union won the Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award from the Tennessee Credit Union League after its team taught 110 financial literacy courses to community members in West Tennessee. The award was given in April at the league’s Annual Convention in Gatlinburg & honors the credit union’s work to boost financial skills locally. WYN 106.9

- ➤ State officials warn locals that a text message scam claims toll fees are due and includes a suspicious link—residents must not click the link and should report the message to the FBI. The Tennessee Highway Department said it never requests toll payments by text. WNBJ 39
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital has named Joseph D. King, M.D., as its new Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology. Dr. King joined from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and will lead the team to improve patient care — his experience is expected to boost safety and innovation in treatment. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Pediatric Emergency Physician Rudy Kink from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital advised parents to keep one adult with children while swimming + use life jackets and avoid jumping into water where the bottom cannot be seen. He also reminded caregivers to apply sunscreen and keep kids hydrated to help prevent injuries this summer. WBBJ-TV
