COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Elk Lodge #192 hosted a cornhole tournament today at 28 Executive Drive in Jackson to raise funds for the Scarlet Rope Project (a group that helps victims of sex trafficking). The event began at 4 p.m. and charged entry fees of $10 for individuals and $20 for teams, and the lodge will hold a Dueling Pianos night on May 17. WBBJ-TV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A logging tractor trailer overturned near Parkway and Whitehall Streets in Jackson just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon—logs spread across all lanes and officers from Jackson Police and THP responded, with no injuries reported. WBBJ-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Officers from the TWRA visited South Side High School to provide a boaters education class—held from 9 a.m. to noon—for participants aged 12 and older. The course taught watercraft safety and administered the official exam required for those born after January 1, 1989—an essential step to meet state law. WYN 106.9
