- ➤ Today, the Jackson Salvation Army is celebrating National Salvation Army Week—beginning May 12 and continuing until May 18—by handing out 3 to 400 grocery bags to help those in need. Major John Edmonds said the group will also provide emergency assistance and partner with local churches to support the community. WNBJ 39
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Police investigated shots fired in Lennon Cove after receiving a ShotSpotter alert on Monday afternoon and confirmed that although shots were fired no one was injured; they ask anyone with information to call 731-425-8400. WNBJ 39
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, UT Extension hosted a Girl Talk event in Jackson where moms and daughters with girls aged 9 to 12 learned about body changes through games and snacks—participants will continue to meet for the next month to discuss puberty and decision making. WYN 106.9
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Jackson began its road repaving project with a $9.3 million budget, and crews have already improved roads like Christmasville Road and East University. Drivers may see slower traffic on Vann Drive as work continues—officials encourage residents to submit road requests via the 3-1-1 app for future projects. WYN 106.9
