Browns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson celebrated its 141st anniversary yesterday with a program featuring guest speakers + fellowship and moments of nostalgia.

The church, which rebuilt after a tornadic storm, marked a milestone in its long service to the community.

Jackson Animal Care and Control launched the B.A.R.K Program today with a $9,865 Ready for Rescue grant from VCA Charities that lets residents take shelter dogs on field trips to ease kennel stress, boost adoptability, and gather behavior insights & help them find forever homes.

The Jackson Symphony hosted a free outdoor concert Sunday at 5 p.m. on the JSCC quad as part of its Symphony on the Move Tour, celebrating America’s 250th birthday with iconic tunes & hometown favorites; the next show will be May 21 at Dynamix in Milan at 6 p.m.

Registration is open for the 2026 State Games of Tennessee in Jackson, which will be held on weekends starting May 30 with sports ranging from cycling to youth baseball.
