COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Christian School’s Elementary and Early Learning Village held a Trike-A-Thon on Monday morning that raised more than $23,000 for St. Jude — students competed for the chance to pie their teacher. This third annual fundraiser, which surpassed last year’s $15,000 total, will become a recurring event in the Hub City community. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ The Hub City Flea Market will be held in June with vendors selling antiques, collectibles, and more — live music and food trucks will also add to the event's appeal. It will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 7, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 8. WNBJ 39
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the Jackson Symphony cut the ribbon on its new office on North Liberty Street in Downtown Jackson and held a raffle for concert tickets. Executive Sherry Freeman and Chamber of Commerce President Kyle Spurgeon said the event marks the Symphony's growth — which supports the local arts. WNBJ 39

- ➤ The Madison County Commission met Monday morning for 92 minutes and spent 69 minutes on one agenda item—appointing Mark Patey as General Sessions Judge—before ending the session. The Jackson Post
- ➤ The City of Jackson released its holiday garbage pick-up schedule for Memorial Day week; residents will see no collection on Monday, May 26 and will follow an adjusted schedule with Tuesday’s pick-up on May 27, Wednesday’s on May 28, and regular service on Thursday and Friday. This schedule applies only to the start of the week, while the end remains unchanged. WYN 106.9
