COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jackson will host its 3rd annual Bowls for the Hungry auction this summer, where locally made pottery by community members and nonprofits will be auctioned on July 19 to raise funds for hunger relief. Ceramics instructor Allyssa Miller said the event—featuring artists as young as nine—aims to support local groups fighting food insecurity.  WNBJ 39
  • Local leaders and business representatives gathered at the Greater Jackson Chamber on Thursday afternoon for the Alzheimer’s Association Corporate Leadership Luncheon—where they discussed ways to support the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s scheduled for September 27 at the Jackson Rockabillys stadium. The event featured insights from board members and corporate sponsors, and provided information on how to sign up as a sponsor or participant.  WYN 106.9
  • The Jackson Parks and Rec Department will host a Fam Jam sneaker ball at the Carl Perkins Civic Center on Friday, June 27. Tickets cost $40 for a family of two and $15 for each extra family member—an event designed to bring families together on the dance floor.  WYN 106.9

BUSINESS NEWS

  • theCO will host two Finding Your Funding events in June to help local entrepreneurs secure capital for their businesses. The Jackson event is on June 10 at 5:00 p.m. (at 541 Wiley Parker Rd) and the Paris event is on June 17 at 12:00 p.m. (at 304 W Washington St).  WBBJ-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The West Tennessee Anime Club will meet on June 7 and June 21 at the Jackson-Madison County Library from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.—fans of anime such as Tiger and Bunny, Carole and Tuesday, and Spice and Wolf are invited to join.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Families and local law enforcement gathered at the Madison County Sheriff's Office on May 16 to honor 32 officers, whose names were read from records dating back to 1876 & a rose was placed in tribute to each fallen officer. The event also featured a flyover by JPD’s aviation unit and a joint proclamation by local mayors and the district attorney to mark National Law Enforcement Memorial Day and National Police Week.  The Jackson Sun

HEALTH NEWS

  • LIFELINE Blood Services and Joe Mahan Ford are partnering for their 7th Annual Car Giveaway — donors 18 and older who give blood from Memorial Day until Labor Day can win a 2022 Ford Mustang Convertible. Donors can visit the Jackson Center on Sterling Farms Drive or the Dyersburg Center on Highway 51 Bypass where walk-ins are welcome.  WBBJ-TV
