- ➤ The Jackson-Madison County School System held its Teacher of the Year Banquet Friday at the Star Center to honor educators for their dedication. John Haley (West Bemis Middle School) was named Teacher of the Year and will represent the district in the regional selection, while Donna Currie (Jackson Central-Merry High School) and Laura Balcunas (Thelma Barker Elementary) were also recognized for their excellence.
