ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • AAA warns that the summer travel season between Memorial Day and Labor Day is among the deadliest times on our roads for motorcyclists and teen drivers because distractions, speeding, and impaired driving increase crash risks; a local motorcycle sales specialist at Bumpus Harley-Davidson (Morgan Staton) urged riders to stay alert and always be seen and heard.  WNBJ 39

CRIME NEWS

  • Jackson Police Chief Thom Corley reported that weekend shootings at Kate Campbell Park on May 24th (which injured seven including a 13-year-old hit by a car) and on Old Hickory Blvd on May 25th (which killed 39-year-old Santiveious Collins and left another man hospitalized) have prompted plans for five e-bikes to soon boost patrols amid rising juvenile involvement.  The Jackson Sun

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Jackson Theatre Guild is set to bring tropical energy to downtown Jackson with Escape to Margaritaville— a musical featuring Jimmy Buffett hits like 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' and 'Margaritaville'— scheduled for performances from July 11 through July 19 at The NED. The show promises an island-themed summer escape for the community.  WNBJ 39

HEALTH NEWS

  • Lifeline Blood Services and a local dealership are sponsoring a promotion in which donors 18 and older will be entered to win a 2022 Ford Mustang convertible — donated by Joe Mahan Ford after they give blood. The promotion will end on Labor Day.  WNBJ 39

  • A high school All-Star basketball game was played today at a local gym with top players competing in an intense contest—Zach Jones reported. Officials will share final scores and player highlights soon.  WBBJ-TV
