COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR held a special event at Anderson Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. to honor Marquis de Lafayette with live violin music and a reenactor. Historian Robert Briley explained that Lafayette helped unite patriots during the revolution — DAR Regent Jeanita Hicks said he played a key role — making the event a memorable tribute to local history.  WYN 106.9
  • The Jackson Area Beekeepers Association held its field day at Pine Hill Park at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, featuring lunch, a farmers market, and a raffle giveaway for a five-frame NUC of bees. After lunch the group moved to Middle Fork Bottom State Park to check club bee boxes — local vendor Calvin Ward sold homemade beeswax candles and honey from club bees.  WYN 106.9

  • The Jackson Post announced a new strategic partnership with Golden Media Group—owner of TalkN West TN—to expand its multimedia journalism and bring fresh content to the local area, with new offerings planned for the future.  The Jackson Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pat Brown School of Dance celebrated 60 years Saturday evening with a recital at the Carl Perkins Civic Center—dancers performed in two separate shows at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The school is located on Commerce Center Circle in Jackson and offers classes for ages 18 months and up.  WYN 106.9

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A local teacher will boost after-school arts programs by using creative lessons that show how language has many sides. The program—starting soon—gives students a chance to view words as art and learn new ways to express themselves.  The Jackson Post
