The Jackson-Madison Chapter DAR hosted Women’s Veterans Day today, honoring nearly 50 women veterans at the VFW Post 6496 (285 Airways Boulevard) in Jackson beginning at 2 p.m. The event, co-sponsored by the James Madison Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, featured door prizes and a guest message by Carroll County’s Veteran Service Officer Renee Myers.
A local bake shop celebrated the grand opening of its new location Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 2062F Pleasant Plains Ext.—The shop offered free macarons to the first 50 guests and featured other surprises as it expanded from its two-year space at the LOCAL.
Athletes competed for medals at the State Games of Tennessee at the West TN Sportsplex in Jackson where youth softball, baseball, and pickleball events awarded gold, silver, and bronze on Sunday.
The tournament was shortened to one day due to weather—teams had a bonding night and some winners may advance to the State Games of America.
