- ➤ The Community Foundation of West Tennessee is accepting nominations for the 2025 Jackson Awards with submissions due by Friday, July 25th. Award winners will be honored on Saturday, November 8th at a Charity Gala in downtown Jackson — an event that supports local initiatives. WYN 106.9
- ➤ The Madison County Fire Department will host the Firefighters Freedom Festival on July 4 at 3 p.m. at Jackson Regional Airport, where attendees will enjoy food trucks, live music, family-friendly games, fire safety demonstrations — and a professional fireworks show. WNBJ 39
- ➤ The Salvation Army in Jackson announced that Major John Edmonds is leaving and Captains William & Larisha Richardson will begin service on Sunday, June 22. A Welcome Sunday service is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Worship and Community Center at 125 Allen Ave. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ GasBuddy reported that average gasoline prices in Tennessee fell 0.9 cents over the last week and stand at $2.67 per gallon today from a survey of 3,821 stations. Prices are 5.5 cents lower than a month ago and 32.0 cents lower than a year ago — a trend that reflects steady market changes. WBBJ-TV

- ➤ Leaders Education Foundation will honor five educators who transformed student lives at an awards dinner on August 14 at Carl Perkins Civic Center, with dinner at 6 p.m. and the program starting at 7 p.m. + Bestselling author Dr. John Delony will host the event presented by West Tennessee Healthcare. - ➤ On Monday, State Representative Johnny Shaw presented a check for $150,000 to Lane College to upgrade its wellness program—adding fitness, mental health and recreational services on campus. - ➤ Jackson Housing Authority broke ground on June 4 to build 112 affordable housing units for low-income families in Jackson in partnership with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. Leasing will begin in summer 2026 while the new units replace aging public housing and offer essential community amenities. The Jackson Sun
- ➤ Today, the Jackson chapter of the National Action Network led by Sabrina Parker called for the immediate termination of Police Chief Thom Corley after a press conference on Memorial Day weekend detailed rising crime and community distrust. The group also demanded a federal review of the police department, the creation of a community safety task force, and a new victims' advocacy unit to improve accountability and rebuild trust.
