- ➤ The Miss Volunteer America pageant will return to Jackson with preliminary competitions set to begin on June 18 and an opening ceremony on Sunday, June 15 at The Ned—voters are now choosing a People’s Choice Award candidate. The winner will be crowned on June 21 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center—contestants represent volunteerism from across the country. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Elks Lodge #192 in Jackson will host a July 4 celebration at 7 p.m. at 28 Executive Drive in Madison Square Office Park – the event will feature live music by local performers Joseph Montgomery and Emily Meaole, food available for purchase, and a contest for the best red, white, and blue outfit. - ➤ Toyota Tennessee donated $150,000 today to upgrade Middle Fork Bottoms State Park in Humboldt by funding an outdoor classroom for local children to explore nature. - ➤ Jackson State Community College partnered with West Tennessee Healthcare to train 10 employees as Certified Clinical Medical Assistants in a fast-tracked 10-week course that combined 72 hours of classroom learning with a 160-hour clinical rotation. The program achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the exam and sets the stage for a new cohort to begin in the fall. WYN 106.9

- ➤ Middle Fork Bottoms State Park will soon get an outdoor classroom and restoration work on 10 acres and a five-acre wildflower meadow—supported by a $150,000 Toyota Tennessee grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation.
