  • Miss Volunteer America contestants hosted a meet and greet at Hub City Brewing at 7 p.m. on Sunday where 51 contestants signed autographs and took selfies with guests—Rock N Dough Pizza served food during the event; the preliminary pageant will begin on Wednesday, June 18.  WYN 106.9

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Game of Their Own will be held on June 24 at Jackson's Rockabillys Stadium with first pitch at 7 p.m. Fans in 1940s dress will enjoy live shows and tributes that honor the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (inspired by A League of Their Own) and the pioneering women of World War II.  WNBJ 39
  • Lights Up! Theatre Company invites families in Jackson to see Frozen KIDS, a stage show based on Disney’s film that tells a story of sisterhood and courage with songs and lively acting. The show runs this weekend with performances on Thursday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 21 at 2:00, 4:00, and 7:00 p.m. (featuring young performers in grades 4–5).  WBBJ-TV
  • A live improv show will take place this Saturday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Turntable Coffee in Jackson as performers deliver spontaneous humor plus quick wit in unscripted scenes that may include adult content.  WNBJ 39

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that Tennessee gas prices averaged $2.70 per gallon, which is among the nation's lowest, while prices in Jackson averaged $2.74 per gallon—a four-cent drop from last month—offering local drivers some savings at the pump.  WNBJ 39

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Secretary of State Tre Hargett, State Sen. Ed Jackson, State Rep. Chris Todd, and State Rep. Johnny Shaw announced that the Jackson-Madison County Library was awarded a $12,832 TOP Grant to boost Wi-Fi hotspots and internal internet connections — part of $291,405 awarded to 54 libraries statewide.  WYN 106.9
