City leaders nominated over 400 homeowners for the Mayor's Civic Pride Awards to honor neat property upkeep—winners will be announced on Aug.

The American Legion Post 55 saved a 4th of July celebration at Martin Recreational Complex (a 250th anniversary event) after city funds were insufficient.
The event will feature fireworks, a picnic in the park and family activities (including live music and food trucks) on Friday, July 3rd at 5 p.m.

Contestants of the Miss America Volunteer Pageant joined lunch at The Jackson Exchange Club on Tuesday, Jun.
16. The pageant begins today with events leading to finals at the Carl Perkins Civic Center on Saturday — where a national queen will be crowned.
On Saturday, June 13, Jackson held its annual Juneteenth celebration along Hayes Avenue in front of the T.R.
White Sportsplex. Despite gusty winds and rain forcing the crowd indoors later in the day, speakers and dancers honored the day while funeral services for Gertrude Copeland are set for Saturday, June 20.

Tennessee residents will not receive a grocery tax break in 2026 after state legislators failed to pass bills aimed at eliminating the tax for seniors — the last tax holiday in 2023 saved residents significant dollars.
The tax remains at 4% plus additional local rates.

The Madison County equestrian center was damaged in January by heavy ice & has been demolished, with officials working with their insurance company to rebuild it.
The board updated the community in a special meeting but did not provide a timeline for completion.
