  • Historic First Baptist Church in Jackson is hosting a drive for school uniforms by collecting new or gently used black and white uniforms (adult small through 2X) for middle and high school students. The drive will run until August 3.  WNBJ 39
  • National Tire Safety Week is coming next week and local experts in Jackson advise drivers to check tire pressure, tread depth, and rotation before summer travel. Discount Tire manager Beau Freeman said using the penny test to see if Lincoln’s head is visible in the tread shows when tires need replacing — proper treads help keep vehicles safe.  WNBJ 39

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Interstate 40 reopened between Tennessee and North Carolina on June 27 after a rockslide and flood closed the road on June 18—drivers now face one lane each way at a 40 mph speed limit as construction continues.  The Jackson Sun

  • Restaurant inspection scores for West Tennessee food venues from June 20th to June 26th were released, and most locations earned a perfect score of 100—although Pickwick Pizza Company in Counce received an 82. This report covers establishments in several counties including Jackson, Carroll, and Chester, showing that most restaurants met high standards.  WYN 106.9

  • Local rapper ARTIC released his single Blue Suede Shoes yesterday in Jackson as a tribute to Carl Perkins that mixes rockabilly and hip hop sounds. He will debut the song on July 26 at Jackson Rockabillys Stadium when opening for Yung Gravy as part of a larger album project planned for later this year.  WYN 106.9
