Downtown Jackson hosts a patriotic First Fridays celebration in July.

The event offers a kids’ bike parade at 6:30 p.m. (organized by JPD Bike Patrol), live music, food vendors, face painting, and a community art project along Main, Liberty, and Baltimore Streets near the county courthouse.

Jackson Sings the Gospel is a four-day southern gospel music event running from July 8 to July 11 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Daily matinees at 1 p.m. are free, while evening concerts at 7 p.m. require tickets ( $28 reserved, $23 general, children under 12 free).

The Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant will run July 22 to July 25 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson and features UT Martin contestants including reigning titleholder Meghan Poore (a 2023 graduate) and current students from Bradford and Memphis.

The event highlights strong community ties to UT Martin.

On June 26, 2026, 12 senior West Tennessee leaders were elected Founding Fellows of the Porter Development Initiative Fellows Academy.
