  • Gardening enthusiasts gathered at the University of Tennessee Agriculture Center for UT Gardens' Summer Celebration 2025 where a Hollywood theme set the stage for hands-on lessons on garden care.   • Farming season is in full swing across West Tennessee as local farmers take orders for pick-your-own sweet corn and several have already sold out, with Robert Gilliland praising the new 'Obsession' variety as sweeter than peaches & cream. The Humboldt Farmer's Market at 1512 Burrow Street opens Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays at 8 a.m., while the East family in Maury City offers corn at $7 a dozen.  WBBJ-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tractor turned over on Highway 45 Bypass and North Parkway in Jackson, causing lane closures and traffic reroutes, and emergency crews arrived at 11 a.m. to clear the scene in about an hour—no injuries are reported.  WBBJ-TV

  • Bob Arrington, founder and president of Arrington Funeral Directors, was honored on July 10 with his addition to the TFDA Wall of Fame—recognizing his decades of service in the funeral profession.   • School is starting soon and families in Jackson are preparing by taking advantage of free giveaways and discounts on supplies from local stores and nonprofits—events that include free backpacks, notebooks, and other essentials.
