- ➤ Jackson residents will attend the Bowls for the Hungry fundraiser on July 19 at the Jackson Fairgrounds — the event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features a catered dinner, live music, and an auction of handmade ceramic bowls to raise funds for local shelters and food programs. WNBJ 39
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 10th at 3:06 a.m., Jackson police responded when a man suffered a gunshot wound near the Tap Bar + Grill at 719 Old Hickory Boulevard and was treated at a local hospital before being released as investigators search for the suspect. WYN 106.9
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Theatre Guild is playing 'Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville' at The Ned McWherter Cultural Arts Center in Downtown Jackson from July 11th to 13th and from July 17th to 19th with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays—reserved seats are available online and tickets cost $24 for adults, $16 for students and $18 for seniors—and Saturday matinee tickets are $15. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday night, the Jackson-Madison County School Board voted to deny the Jackson Museum School charter application because of budget concerns and doubts about student support. Dr. Jean Little said the school appealed to the state Public Charter School Commission on Friday — backed by 13 local education groups. WYN 106.9

- ➤ Zeus (TBI’s first Electronic Storage Detection K9) retired Friday morning after five years of service finding electronic devices in child exploitation cases. Special Agent Derek Miller said the K9 earned his trust during training and will now enjoy retirement with his family. WBBJ TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Recent restaurant inspections across West Tennessee showed that several Jackson eateries scored between 91 and 100 during checks held from July 7 to July 10 — the report also included results from establishments in nearby counties. WYN 106.9
