Zarah Temple #151 hosted its 25th annual Back to School Book Bag Giveaway Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Jackson location, offering free book bags, school supplies and bag lunches to help local students get ready for the new school year.
Aldersgate Methodist Church hosted a fan collection drive Saturday morning at 1050 North Parkway to help seniors, pregnant women, and those with health concerns beat the summer heat.
The church aims to support community members without air conditioning.
