Saturday evening, the Bowls for the Hungry charity event took place at the fairgrounds in Jackson and featured live music, dinner and a live auction for 135 unique ceramic bowls created by local artists and students.

The event was hosted by the City of Jackson Parks and Rec Department & local nonprofit partners and raised funds to help feed those in need.

Saturday night, two young ladies competed in the teen part of the Miss Volunteer Pageant series in the Hub City—Lucy Cowart from East TN won the title of Miss Iris TN Teen Volunteer while Alexa Macarthur from West TN was crowned Miss TN Teen Volunteer.

A meet and greet held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center introduced the 36 contestants for the upcoming Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant on Sunday afternoon.

The pageant will have preliminaries from July 23 to July 25 and a final competition on July 26 — one contestant will be crowned.

Tennessee health insurance through the Affordable Care Act is expected to have a 15% premium increase for 2026 as tax credits end and medical costs rise.

Those with employer coverage may also see higher deductibles when companies shift more costs to workers.
