  • After 731 days off, the popular Hub City Flea Market returns to Jackson with vendors, live music & food trucks. The market will open on August 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., continue on August 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and conclude on August 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  WNBJ 39

CRIME NEWS

  • Madison County Sheriff's Office arrested two juvenile suspects aged 15 and 16 in connection to the July 19 homicide on Harts Bridge Rd that took the life of Cameron Walker from Jackson—investigation continues.  WYN 106.9
  • Madison County authorities arrested two juveniles over the weekend on Harts Bridge Rd in connection with the homicide of 24-year-old Cameron Walker from Jackson—charges include first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.  WNBJ 39

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jackson’s own acappella group The Jukes will celebrate 30 years with a concert at The Ned R. McWherter West TN Cultural Arts Center on Saturday, August 16th at 7:30 p.m.—the show will feature special guests and Jackson hits from the 50’s to now.  WYN 106.9
  • Jackson and West Tennessee residents will celebrate 731 Day as July nears its end, an event started by Our Jackson Home & now embraced by the community for its local tradition.  The Jackson Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jackson State Community College expanded its Workforce Solutions division by hiring Dr. Don DeMoulin, a 33-year workforce veteran with extensive training and leadership skills to support local businesses. The college plans to offer more courses in lean manufacturing, robotics, and other key fields & to add tailored programs that meet the community's evolving job needs.  WBBJ-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers helps communities by quickly sending senior leaders to disaster areas, with Lieutenant Colonel Nate Weander noting their fast response after events like Hurricane Helene & wildfires in California. Locals are advised to stock up on supplies as hurricane season may bring heavy rainfall to West Tennessee.  WYN 106.9
