On Saturday, July 25, Jackson Fairgrounds will host the annual Pets Rock!
Fest with pet adoptions, a dock dogs water competition, a doggie race for Dachshunds, food trucks, and an outdoor foam party from 1-3 p.m. Admission is $5 while kids 10 and under enter free.
🎓 Education
The Ned is hosting its 'Bound for Broadway' summer break camp where kids learn singing, dancing and acting (through voice training, diction, and movement) and prepare for a Friday performance; sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on East Main Street.
Jackson-Madison County School Board member and longtime educator Marcia Moss died July 18 at age 79.
Funeral services will be held July 25 at All Saints Anglican Church in Jackson, and her name remains on the Aug. 6 ballot.
The University of Tennessee at Martin will offer a new public health concentration in fall 2026 at all six regional centers (Jackson, Parsons, Ripley, Selmer, Somerville, and Springfield), preparing students for careers in community health and wellness.

Hammerhead worms, an invasive flatworm species from Southeast Asia, have been spotted in Jackson gardens as summer heats up.
The West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center advises gardeners to handle them carefully (using gloves or tweezers) to protect valuable earthworms that keep soil healthy.
A black bear was seen on Damron Road in Yuma in Carroll County around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday — wildlife officials urged residents to keep their distance and secure trash and pet food to discourage the animal.
