Verizon TCC in Jackson is hosting a back-to-school giveaway today offering free backpacks, supplies, pizza, prizes and popsicles for families as part of a mini block party.
The event also includes live music, free pet nail trims plus a $250 gift card drawing for one lucky kid.
🎭 Culture
Local filmmaker Jaron Lockridge and Cinema Ministry Productions premiered the independent series House for the Broken over the weekend in Jackson, where cast and fans enjoyed a red carpet event.
The series will be available to watch on streaming services soon.
The final night of the 2027 Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant took place on Saturday, Jul.
25 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, where contestants competed in fitness, talent and evening gown segments, and Karenna Rainey was crowned winner.

A new affordable apartment complex, Blue Creek Apartments (54 units), opened on July 23 offering two and three bedroom options with community and computer rooms and laundry facilities on site.
The development, partly financed through low income tax credits, replaces older public housing for local families.

The Jackson Rockabillys split a weekend series with the Thrillville Thrillbillies, winning one game and losing one ahead of their final regular season matchup.
