- ➤ Commercial Bank and Trust announced on August 4th that Ashley Barnes was named vice president, loan officer, and branch manager at its North Highland office. She joined CBTC with almost two decades of banking experience (gained during roles at Community Bank and FirstBank) to strengthen client relationships. WYN 106.9
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Between 12 a.m. on August 4 and 8 a.m. on August 6, individuals were booked into or released from Madison County Jail (their inclusion does not indicate guilt). WBBJ-TV
- ➤ WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News obtained affidavits for two suspects (Tanaka Brown and Dearrah Sanders) in connection with the ongoing quadruple homicide investigation linked to Austin Drummond, with Brown also facing a tampering charge. WYN 106.9
- ➤ Austin Drummond was arrested in Madison County early Tuesday by Jackson police on charges of killing four family members and aggravated kidnapping + he is set to appear for arraignment at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Lake County. WNBJ 39
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Candlelight returns to Jackson in October as The Ned hosts a live music series with a Halloween program featuring dark classical tunes— additional themed shows are set for December. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ The Jackson Arts Council has set a busy month of arts & culture events this August with art exhibits at The Ned Galleries, concerts at The AMP, and workshops at local venues. The calendar runs from August 1 to 31 and offers various events like dance classes and community gatherings. WBBJ-TV
- ➤ Anime fans in West Tennessee will gather at the Jackson-Madison County Library at 433 East Lafayette Street from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 to discuss Japanese animation, with more meetings planned for September 6, September 20, October 4, and October 18. WNBJ 39

- ➤ The City of Jackson will host its 2025 Selfie Day on August 12th to invite residents to take photos in and around City Hall—continuing last year's event started on August 15th, 2024.
