Augustine School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony (with the Jackson Chamber of Commerce) at its main entrance on Old Humboldt Road to unveil summer renovations that include new flooring, upgraded science classrooms, and a chicken coop for lower school classes as they prepare for the new school year.

Jackson-Madison County Schools are hiring new bus drivers to fill 10 open routes after losing about 25 drivers during COVID, and new hires receive paid training (to obtain their CDL) while longtime driver Rita Tipler asked parents to be patient with adjusted routes.

Bourbon virus has been found in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and New York, and although Tennessee has not reported any cases yet, Lone Star ticks in 32 counties are linked to more tick bite visits this year; health officials advise residents to use tick prevention measures *especially when outdoors*.

The Dyer County Choctaws will begin their season in mid-August under head coach Justin Dubruiel, who built on last year’s narrow overtime win against Dyersburg.
