RIFA will host its annual Pack the Bus food drive on Saturday, Aug.
15 as school buses park at local grocery stores from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donations will fill Snack Backpacks to provide meals and snacks for about 800 elementary children in Madison County.

The Beauty Social Club and Truly Yours Boutique opened Saturday at 113 North Liberty Street, bringing a one-stop spot for beauty and fashion with a champagne bar and hair tinsel service.
The sisters plan to serve customers weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
🎭 Culture
Unique Line Dancers of Jackson celebrated four years at T.R.
White Sportsplex on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—welcoming dancers from ages 18 to 91 and reinforcing local community ties.
🎓 Education
Harvey Walden won a close race for JMCSS Board chair with 1,589 votes over Claire Spotts on Thursday night — Marcia Moss also won re-election posthumously, leaving a vacancy that county officials will fill by Sept.
9; Andre Darnell secured a District 6 seat.
🏈 Sports
The Gibson County Sports Hall of Fame inducted its 2026 honorees at Bradford High School (its 29th annual ceremony) on Saturday.
The event recognized local athletes and celebrated their contributions.
