🎭 Culture
Hub City Theatre Company presented a one-woman performance called The Crossword Play last Sunday at Turntable Coffee Counter (300 East Main Street in downtown Jackson).
The show mixed humor with emotion for teens and older audiences, with a free coffee included in every ticket purchase.
The Jazz Foundation of West Tennessee hosted a tribute concert Saturday night at the Ned McWherter Cultural Arts Center honoring jazz legends Ray Brown, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane (all would have turned 100 this year) with performances by renowned musicians Jeremy Pelt and Mike Walton.

On Aug. 12, people in Jackson can see six planets in a morning alignment and a peak in the Perseid meteor shower in the evening as the new moon makes the sky dark; however, residents will not be able to view the partial solar eclipse.
🏈 Sports
Eight members of Jackson State's Green Jays baseball team signed with new teams on Aug.
9 and will start playing soon. Their move marks a fresh chapter for the players in local sports.
Cooper Ranvier, the Tennessee Volunteer kicker, was added to the 2026 Lou Groza Award watchlist on Aug.
